Lukewarm response from Bishnupriya Manipuri NRIs and B’deshi origin on whereabouts exercise

Couple of weeks back, an email exercise was carried out to determine the number of Bishnupriya Manipuri Non-Resident Indians and of Bangladeshi origin living in foreign shores. To utter dismay, the whole exercise failed to gain momentum and ended up with mere one digit data. Less than 10 Bishnupriya Manipuri people filled in the form.

Most notable, not a single Bishnupriya Manipuri people of Bangladeshi origin took up the exercise. And those who filled in the form were all from Assam, India living in the countries like UAE and USA.

They are all married staying with their spouse and children, and had left India in 2004 onwards.

Responding to this initiative, Bijit Sarma, staying in UAE said “It's a good idea to collect the data. Hope to see the article next month.” Ananta Sinha held that they are really very happy with this type of exercise.

“This is a very good exercise which may help establish communication between Bishnupriya Manipuris staying in India, Bangladesh and abroad and bring then closer to each other” said Pranjal Sinha, who live in USA .

However, those who haven’t received the FORM can fill in here.
