The Financial Express highlights contribution of Bishnupriya Manipuri in Wikipedia

Ever wondered – what is the status of Bishnupriya Manipuri in www.wikipedia.org? Where do it stands in comparison to the other languages of India? The Financial Express, in an article “Movement of a virtual community” published on August 20, 2009, New Delhi edition, again loudly validates number of articles on the language far exceeds many prominent languages of India.

The number of articles on Bishnupriya Manipuri in Wikipedia, an online encyclopedia and one of the precious assets ever created in the Internet space, is 23, 416 just lagging behind with Telugu (43,253 number of articles) and Hindi (33, 268), The Financial Express states.

The same article prominently promulgates that in the list of Indo-Aryan languages of India, the number of articles on Bishnupriya Manipuri it is second to Hindi. And among the northeastern languages, the only language that appears in the article written by Pragati Verma, is Assamese with contribution of 207 articles.

India ranks among the top five countries using information from Wikipedia.

The Financial Express runs many editions published from Ahmedabad, Bangolore, Chandigarh, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kochi, Lucknow, Mumbai and Pune.

The search engine has been launched to get results exclusively on queries and information related to Assam.
