Lakshmindra Sinha releases book Huru Yari, a collection of 10 short stories

The release of the book titled Huru Yari by Guwahati-based writer Dils Lakshmindra Sinha is something to cheer about for the Bishnupriya Manipuri bibliophile. The book released recently in Guwahati, Assam, is a collection of 10 short stories in the Bishnupriya Manipuri language.

Huru Yari is Lakshmindra Sinha’s first publication in the year 2009. The writer, who has scripted the first video of the Bishnupriya Manipuri Feature Film “Kalling”, has under his list of publications: 13 books on poems, prose and drama.

For the 59-year old author whose has been passionate to writings since childhood; published his first story Nungaipar Jeena in 1984 in “TRIPURA CHE- a Bishnupriya Manipuri newspaper”. Then onwards this restless writer continued publishing his work in different languages – Bishnupriya Manipuri, Bengali, Assamese, and Hindi & English.

His numerous writings on stories, poems and articles etc were published in different local newspapers, magazines and self-publications (books). Many of his poems and stories written in Bishnupriya Manipuri language were translated and published in Assamese, Bengali, Hindi & English languages in different newspapers & magazines.

Born to parents late Jadav Sinha and late Juthi Devi on September 16, 1957 at village Krishnanagar, Hingala laya of Dullabcherra, Karimganj District (Assam), Lakshmindra Sinha is Master of Arts(English) from Gauhati University and by profession working in the capacity of Administrative Officer in New India Assurance Company Ltd, Guwahati, Assam.

In addition to his demanding job , Lakshmindra Sinha loves to play an active role in different social activities of Bishnupriya Manipuri. He holds the portfolio of General Secretary of Nikhil Bishnupriya Manipuri Sahitya Parishad/Central Committee, Convenor of Bishnupriya Manipuri Itihas Anusandhan Samiti and Editor of SORAREL (a Bishnupriya Manipuri Quarterly publication).

The search engine has been launched to get results exclusively on queries and information related to Assam.     Undoubtedly, the accurate period of the emergence or the development of religious consciousness of the Bishnupriya Manipuri is difficult to ascertain, but it is an old one that is undoubted, writes Rini Sinha , Guwahati .
