GUWAHATI, Sept 28: The Nikhil Bishnupriya Manipuri Mahasabha (NBMM) and the Nikhil Bishnupriya Manipuri Sahitya Parishad (NBMSP) have come down heavily on Assam Urban Development Minister Dinesh Prasad Goala for his what they said undue interference in the internal matter of the NBMM on the issue of the proposed Bishnupriya Manipuri Development Council.
In a press release sent to The Sentinel on September 28, NBMSP general secretary DILS Lakshmindra Sinha said: “It is the fact that the Nikhil Bishnupriya Manipuri Mahasabha had raised the demand for the formation of the Bishnupriya Manipuri Development Council before the State Government in 2003 with the aim all-round development of this economically backward community. But it is because of the personal initiative of MLA Kartiksena Sinha, the State Government decided to set up the proposed Bishnupriya Manipuri Development Council (BMDC). It is learnt that a committee headed by Kartiksena Sinha as chairman has already been prepared and that the committee have also got the approval of the Cabinet subcommittee. The proposed committee is now waiting for the final clearance from the Chief Minister. In such a situation, the statement of minister Goala is confusing and misleading. We smell a rat that this might be a political conspiracy to halt the process of the setting up of the development council by dividing the community into pro-Kartiksena Sinha and pro-Deben Sinha groups so that the government can put the blame on the community in the event of its failure to form the council.”
“The Nikhil Bishnupriya Manipuri Mahasabha proposed the name of MLA Kartiksena Sinha as the chairman of the council through a resolution passed unanimously. The Mahasabha has not changed this decision till date. On the allegations against Kartiksena Sinha, I seek to clarify that an accusation does not mean conviction. There are a lot of accused ministers, MPs and MLAs who are ruling the country and the states. I am quite confident that at this critical time, the entire Bishnupriya Manipuri community will stand behind Kartiksena Sinha for his contribution for the development of the community,” DILS Sinha said, added: “I request all social leaders and activists not to fall in the trap laid by some vested interests. I also appeal to Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi, whose step has enkindled a ray of hope among this distressed community, for completion of the process of formation of the Bishnupriya Manipuri Development Council immediately.”
NBMM vice-president Anil Singha Gautam said in another press release that in its executive committee meeting, the NBMM had unanimously decided to project lone MLA of the Bishnupriya Manipuri community, Kartiksena Sinha, as the chairman of the proposed Bishnurpriya Manipuri Development Council. “Since the MLA is the unanimous choice of the NBMM, there is no question of deleting his name from the proposed council without taking the consent of the Mahasabha,” Singha Gautam said, and added: “It’s learnt that minister Goala is involved in the matter. The NBMM finds no reason of Goala interfering in the internal matter of the community. The role of the minister on this issue is to divide the community for his political gains.”

I been reading the news items recently being published in Sentinel and as well as Yugosankha regarding BMDC. I m at a loss to understand why people, on the name of Mahasabha or its organs.like Sahitya Parishad / Sanskriti Parishad, determined to demonstrate their resilience in a manner which set its sight on the gaining of only cheap popularity, nothing else.

In my earlier comment, it was clearly mentioned that no one could use the name NBMM, no matter, the person holding any higher position in Mahasabha.Only the designated spoke person can express, that too, what had been told to.
NBMM and NBMSP are not parallel functionaries.NBMSP is one the organs of NBMM (Mahasabha) like Sanskriti Parishad or Student Union.Therfore, the name of the article should'nt be as Bishnupriya Manipuri Bodies Slam Goala.
Mahasabha is a single body.It has no branches, like Guwahati Branch,Delhi Branch,Pune branch etc.
