Sahitya Parishad pooh-poohs Singha Gautam

GUWAHATI, June 10: Reacting to the news item appeared on the June 4, 2011 issue of The Sentinel under the headline “BMSS strips NBMM president of all powers”, Nikhil Bishnupriya Manipuri Sahitya Parishad (NBMSP), Assam State Committee, vice-president Raja Parag Jyoti Sinha (Shimu) said that “every individual has the right to form/float an organization with like-minded people, but that doesn’t entitle them to make irresponsible comments like stripping of the power of the duly elected president of the Nikhil Bishnupriya Manipuri Masabha (NBMM), Dr Debendra Kumar Sinha”.

Bishnupriya Manipuri Suraksha Samiti (BMSS) president Anil Singha Gautam went on record saying that the BMSS had “stripped” NBMM president Dr Devendra Kumar Sinha of “all powers”, except convening of NBMM sessions, that too, in consultation with the BMSS. Singha Gautam had also said that the recent BMSS convention at Patharkandi in Karimganj district had expressed its lack of confidence on the leadership of Dr Sinha.

Terming Singha Gautam’s outburst as “histrionic’, Raja Parag Jyoti Sinha said that the statement made by Singha Gautam “has been an appalling one for the Bishnupriya Manipuri community. “The content of the writing, it appears, is penned out of sheer frustration by Singha Gautam” he said, and added: “Singha Gautam is perhaps not aware of the fact that the committee of the Bishnupriya Manipuri Development Council (BMDC) was formed with the blessings of the Government of Assam, only on an ad hoc basis. The decision regarding giving clean chit or curbing power of it totally depends on the Government of Assam.”

Raja Parag Jyoti Sinha further said: “The MBMM never meddled in the formation of the BMDC, and hence the so-called ‘back-door policy by the Mahasabha’ as feared by Singha Gautam is uncalled for. Such a back-door policy was adopted by some dissident leaders (now expelled) of the Mahasbha while forming various committees of the council.” He said that the Mahasabha requested the Bishnupriya Manipuri not to be misled by such “irresponsible” comments from any quarters.

Assam Search Engine: Bisarok

Exclusive search engine on Assam Manash Pratim Gohain, TNN Jun 16, 2012, 01.46PM IST NEW DELHI: Assam got its own search engine ' Bisarok '. The search engine has been launched to get results exclusively on queries and information related to Assam. 'Bisarok', means 'to search' in Assamese language, has been launched and has been linked to various websites of the Government of Assam and departments, educational institutions and media. The search engine is likely to give a new online experience related to searches on Assam. Built on Google custom search engine, the search engine would be collating and building a database of web properties exclusively of the state in the North East region. 'Bisarok' has been developed by RK Rishikesh Sinha, who had earlier created a similar custom search engine ('Bisarei') on Bishnupriya Manipuri.
