KP remembered, KP sanman given away

Jatir Janak Dr KP Sinha was remembered on his 78th birth day at Divyashram, West Kachudharam on January 3, 2014 with a daylong programme including cultural shows.

Poet Brojendra Sinha and fiction writer Prof. Smriti Kumar mesmerized the capacity crowd with their skilful arguments based only on reasons on linguistics relating to the Bishnupriya Manipuri language. While the poet questioned the rationale behind the campaign against the honour “Jatir Janak” given to Dr Sinha by as many as many as five organizations, the fiction writer dared Prof. Birendra Sinha to come clear on his stand that the Bishnupriya Manipuri language has come from Sanskrit via Shouroshreni prakrit and that the people who had accompanied Brabrubahana on his homecoming from Hastina. Prof. Sinha is of the view that the time scale never backs both the stands of the scholar (Prof. Birendra Sinha). He clearly spells out that either any of the two standpoints of the scholar is wrong, or both are wrong. What, according to Dr Sinha, holds water is that both can never be true at the same time.

Dr Sinha made a fervent appeal to the Sanskrit scholar Prof. Birendra Sinha to come clear on this stand before it is too late and put an end to this decade-long debate that out to play spoilsport for the development of the Bishnupriya Manipuri language and literature.

Earlier BMSS general secretary Manikanta spelt out the objectives of the event that started with the paying of floral tribute at the bust erected in the premises of Divyashram.

A journal “Kaliprasad Darshan” published on the occasion was released by poet Brojendra Kumar Sinha. Editor-in-chief of the journal, Ramlal Sinha, explained the objectives of the journal.

Kiron Raj, student leader Samir Sinha, BMDC EM Gopidas Sinha, fiction writer Indra Kumar Sinha, litterateur Manas Sinha, NBMSU president Rajkumar Anil Krishna and others spoke on the occasion.
Apart from the cultural presentation by a notpala, two songs of Dr KP Sinha presented by Renubala Sinha pushed the event to a certain height.

Binoy Sinha, a youth who had looked after Dr Sinha at the fag-end of his life, too kept the audience spellbound with a song that he had learned from none other than Dr Sinha.

The event got its weight when the organizers gave away Dr KP Sinha awards to as many as five persons who excelled in their respective fields. They are poet Brojendra Kumar Sinha, litterateur Birendra Sinha, Aswini Kumar Sinha, Oja Surya Mani Sinha and Gokul Sena Sinha.

The BMSS also conferred the Nritya Samrat award on Nrityacharya Senarik Rajkumar.
